The island of Lidingö is situated in the inner Stockholm archipelago, northeast of the city’s centre, around 50 kilometers northwest of Bullando on the Baltic Sea. Inhabited since ancient times, today the area has become a popular tourist destination for boating and yachting enthusiasts from around the world during the summer months, thanks in part to the warm, sunny climate and rich cultural history of the region. Also of note, Lidingö provides maritime travelers with an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding Stockholm Archipelago, as well as the many other minor islands that can be found nearby.

While visiting Lidingö, be sure to venture inland long enough to experience the two runic inscriptions that have been found on the island and date back to the Viking Age, as well as the many restored homes on the island, many of which were built in the late 18th century.
