The port city of Mahón is an autonomous Spanish community that is situated on the eastern coast of the Balearic Island of Menorca, around 20 kilometers northeast of Cap d’en Font and 35 kilometers southeast of Cala Galdena. Settled since the second century BCE, today the region is a popular destination among boating and yachting enthusiasts from around the globe.

Interestingly, Mahón boasts one of the deepest natural harbors in the entire world, and the entire island has been designated a European Biological Reserve. This has kept development to a minimum and has encouraged the proliferation of a wide variety of plants and animals. Also of note, Mahón boasts a number of excellent shopping and dining opportunities, so be sure to venture inland long enough to experience the charm of this ancient city. In fact, the island is also renowned for its many megalithic stone monuments, which provide clear evidence of prehistoric human activity.
