The city of Portimao lies in the Algarve region of southern Portugal on the Atlantic Ocean, around 280 kilometers south of Lisbon and 300 kilometers northwest of Cadiz. Although a relatively young city, it has quickly become a popular destination for boating and yachting enthusiasts from around the world, thanks to its pristine beauty and fabulous beaches.

Portimao is also renowned for its fabulous cuisine, perhaps most notably for a variety of excellent local fresh seafood dishes, including grilled sardines. In addition, the nearby beach of Praia da Rocha, or ‘Rocky Beach,’ is an impressive sight to behold, with azure waters and a number of magnificent rocky outcroppings peeking up from the sea floor throughout the bay, seeming to reach for the sky. Adventuresome maritime travelers will enjoy the many water sports available here, including diving, snorkeling and surfing, while the Subtropical Mediterranean climate brings warm, sunny summers and mild winters.
