The magnificent Italian city of Catania is situated on the eastern coast of Sicily on the Ionian Sea, around 250 kilometers southeast of Palermo and 180 kilometers southeast of Cefalu. Today, this ancient city, which was founded in the 8th century BCE, has grown to become the second largest in all of Sicily and the 10th largest in all of Italy, helping to make it a popular destination for boating and yachting enthusiasts from around the world.

Situated at the base of Mount Etna, which is an active volcano, Catania boasts a wide variety of fantastic attractions, including ruins in the city’s centre from structures that were built during ancient Greek and Roman civilizations, and preceded the current structures, but were destroyed during one of the seven times the city has been buried by lava. Also of note, there are a variety of ancient Roman thermal baths in the area, as well as a modern port with excellent amenities.
