The charming city of Reggio Calabria lies in the Calabria region of southwestern Italy, situated on the tip of the “toe” of the Italian peninsula in the Mediterranean Sea, around 250 kilometers east of Palermo and 380 kilometers south of Naples. The coastline here is dotted with impressive mountains from the Aspromonte range, and Reggio Calabria is the second oldest city in the entire country and has been settled since around 720 BCE. As such, the region boasts a wide variety of historical and cultural attractions, including a stunning castle and cathedral, as well as several interesting Roman ruins.

Today, Reggio Calabria has become a popular destination for boating and yachting enthusiasts from around the world, thanks to its rich history and fantastic beaches. Also, the fishing industry is still thriving here, so be sure to venture inland long enough to sample some fresh local seafood during your visit.
