The picturesque seaside town of Marigot is situated on the east-central coast of the island of St. Martin, around 10 kilometers southwest of Anse Marcel and 20 kilometers west of Oyster Pond. Today, this onetime quiet fishing village has become a popular destination for boating and yachting enthusiasts from around the world, thanks in part to its stunning natural beauty, fabulous climate and many amenities.
Also of note, Marigot is the capital city of the French side of the island, thereby boasting a wide variety of charming pastel-coloured homes and bistros, as well as an impressive, open-air market held every Wednesday and Saturday morning that features a wide variety of local goods, from produce to fish and even traditional crafts. In addition, be sure to venture inland long enough to explore Fort St. Louis, which is the largest and most popular historical monument on the entire island. |
