The island of Fehmarn is located in the Ostholstein region of northern Germany and is the fourth largest island in the country. It is connected to the mainland via the Fehmarn Bridge, which is a marvel of engineering in the region. Settlement here can be traced all the way back to prehistoric times, perhaps in part because of the excellent fishing and game opportunities that have existed here for centuries.

The marina and resort area of Burgtiefe lies just across the bay from the city and port of Burgstaaken on the picturesque Baltic Sea. It is situated at the southernmost tip of the island, around 4 kilometers south of the town of Fehmarn and just over 100 kilometers northeast of Kiel. The South Beach area of Burgtiefe marina is known for its vibrant nightlife, sunny climate and pristine white sand beaches, making this a popular destination for yachting enthusiasts today.
