The spectacular coastal city of Nice is situated in southeasternFrance on the Mediterranean Sea, around 200 kilometers northeast of Marseille and 20 kilometers southwest of Monaco. As the largest city located on the French Riviera, it also happens to lie in an area that has been inhabited by humans longer than almost any other place on earth. Not surprisingly, the city has become a popular tourist destination for boating and yachting enthusiasts from around the world during modern times, thanks to its excellent climate, rich history and fantastic amenities.

The port of Nice is a major commercial and passenger centre, and there is also another smaller port located in the city’s Carras district. Once a major industry, fishing in the region today is little more than a supplement, but seafaring travelers are still quite likely to see the remaining professional fishermen coming and going with the day’s catch.
