The charming town of Marigny-sur-Yonne is situated in the Burgundy region of central France, around 265 kilometers southeast of Paris and 270 kilometers northwest of Lyon. It lies along the banks of the Canal du Nivernais, which connects the Seine to the basin of the Loire via the Yonne River. The canal stretches nearly 175 kilometers and today is used mainly by locals, and by boating enthusiasts from around the world.


Marigny-sur-Yonne can be found near the Morvan National Forest and is a popular base from which visitors can leisurely explore the canal, which winds through pristine countryside comprised of farmland and gently rolling wooded areas. Day trips, as well as weeklong outbound excursions and return trips are all quite popular, and can be a wonderful way to explore the region. In addition, while here be sure to visit a few vineyards, as the wines here are world-renowned.
