The village of Taalintehdas can be found on the southern tip of The village of Taalintehdas can be found on the southern tip of Finland as it extends into the Baltic Sea, between the city of Turku and the capital Helsinki. With a population of 3500 year round, the economy is centered on the ironworks factory and the harbor. Also known as Dalsbruk in Swedish, an iron blast furnace was originally built here in 1686 by a Swedish financial officer by the name of Daniel Faxell. The company has remained in production for more than 300 years.

Centrally located in the picturesque Finnish archipelago, the sailing is some of the best in the world, with many natural harbors, making this a natural destination for boating and yachting enthusiasts from around the world. Cottages have sprung up on all of the islands, as the region’s reputation for natural beauty has spread. Be sure to visit Taalintehdas during the summer months when the Baltic Jazz festival takes place and the farmer’s markets are open for business. The autumn months can be very busy with most of the boats being taken out of the water in preparation for the winter.
