As the second largest island of Cuba’s Canarreos Archipelago, Cayo Largo (also known as Cayo Largo del Sur) is a popular Caribbean resort and tourist destination that is still only a scant 25 kilometers long by 3 kilometers wide and lies just south of the main island. The climate here is superb, ranging from 29ºC in July to a toasty 23ºC in the winter months.

While visiting Cayo Largo, seafaring travelers will delight in the pristine white sand beaches, ample wildlife and scuba diving opportunities that can be found here. In fact, even the limestone island itself is fascinating, having been formed over the millennia from the remains of countless marine organisms. In addition, the southern coast of Cayo Largo boasts a stunning coral reef and water clear enough to see all the way down to the ocean floor! Interestingly, the island has no permanent residents, instead focusing only on tourist accommodations.
