The magnificent port city of Dubrovnik is located in Croatia on the Isthmus of Dubrovnik in the Adriatic Sea, around 225 kilometers from Split and 380 kilometers from Zadar. A center for maritime trade and travel since the Middle Ages, today it has become one of the most popular tourist destinations in all of Dalmatia, especially for seafaring travelers.

The wall surrounding the entire city is perhaps one of the most striking features of Dubrovnik, as is the old town section. Running from four to six meters deep in some places, the wall and its many turrets and towers were originally designed to protect the city from invasion. The Port of Gruz is located just 2.5 kilometers from the old town, but it is sometimes possible to anchor out in the harbor and take a smaller vessel directly into the diminutive ancient port, which is located at the foot of the old town centre. In addition, travelers will delight in the many peddlers lining the original boat harbor, offering a variety of local goods.
