Occupying a huge percentage of the northern part of the American continent, Canada is a country that shares land borders with neighbouring United States. With its waters included, it ranks as the second largest country in the world next to Russia and fourth by land area. It also belongs to the wealthiest and top ten trading nations of the world.

Canada has a vast geography, landforms, ecology and vegetation resulting in varying climates all throughout the land. It also has the largest number of lakes and is thought to have most of the world’s available fresh water.
The Port of Nanaimo is one of the country’s major ports and is located on Vancouver Island. Nanaimo is also the location of the main ferry terminal and provides access to numerous destinations on the island, its neighboring areas and off its coastline.

Another major port is Sidney, which is located on the northern end of Vancouver Island. It is the only “port of call” in Canada that belongs to the Washington State Ferry system
