The vibrant, tropical town of Airlie Beach is located on Australia’s Whitsunday coast and is a perfect base from which to explore the Great Barrier Reef and the gorgeous Whitsunday Islands. As a vibrant tourist destination, the area offers an increased amount of late afternoon sunshine during the winter months, and cooling shade combined with mild ocean breezes throughout the summer. No longer just a backpacker’s getaway, Airlie Beach has nonetheless managed to retain elements of its original bohemian character.

The Abel Point Marina at Airlie Beach has recently been enlarged to hold more than 500 vessels and can handle everything from 40-metre super yachts to smaller leisure crafts. This is the perfect location for water sports, swimming and snorkeling, while cruising through the Whitsunday islands is another popular pastime. Shute Harbor is also just a few kilometers away, linking Airlie Beach with Cannonvale to the west and providing an excellent base for a variety of offshore excursions.
